It's Okay
And then, 2020 happened.
Or happening since it’s still going on.
The flooded in Jakarta, a wildfire in Australia, your hero
died (may Kobe and Gigi Bryant are in peace). And then suddenly, this pandemic
forced you to stay home. Some of you might stuck in your rented room all by
yourself. You feel like everything is not going well. You couldn’t celebrate
your graduation ceremony, some of you couldn’t even work on your thesis and
everything seems to get worse day by day.
You can probably talk about this all day long and you won’t
finish until midnight.
So, you tried to find some motivation from your social media.
You watch tons of videos on how to keep motivated during this time. You try to
learn new things, whatever it is! Cooking, drawing, working out so you can get
your body goals, watching movies you haven’t got a chance to watch last time,
gardening, baking another cookie, painting with new tools, reading your old
books, learning new languages or simply downloading Duolingo again and picking
up where you left before. You write, journaling, singing, or making a song,
joining a webinar. You have done everything, and everything turns into new
boredom.
“Hey, you should watch this!” Said your friend. And you just
replied with “Whoa, interesting, thanks!” but never look it up again because
you are just tired of these new routines. So, you end up scrolling through your
Instagram and watch other people Instagram stories and a thought comes to your
mind.
How lucky they are, still have some jobs to do.
Oh look, they are so sweet together spending time with
their pets or their loved ones.
How cool they are catching up on new skills.
Somehow, everyone’s lives seem much more interesting than
yours. You’re starting to think that you are not good enough. That you’re just
a piece of lazy potato who spends their time sleeping all day and scrolling
through their phones.
But, don’t you remember that this time everyone is facing a
hard time? And you don’t have to feel bad for yourself just because you
couldn’t cope up with things lately. You did a great job by staying alive. By
making sure you eat your foods and stay sane.
It’s okay to lay down all day or doing nothing.
You are
great,
you are fine.
